Archives For Pizza Hut

Are you ready for a Change?  Become an Entrepreneur.

By now, many New Year’s resolutions have been broken or abandoned.  Introducing my blog is the first step toward completing a goal I had envisioned for myself years and years ago.  My goal is to be an Entrepreneur.

 Entrepreneur.

When I think about that word, I think of the Carney Brothers who began Pizza Hut in this tiny building here in Wichita, Kansas.

First Pizza Hut

Or perhaps the most admired Entrepreneur ever, Oprah Winfrey.

Entrepreneur.

The dictionary define it as:  ”One who starts a business or other venture that promises economic gain but that also entails risks.”

Given the definition above, anyone, anywhere, at any age can become an entrepreneur.  It is not necessary to create the next Facebook, like Mark Zuckerberg, to be considered an Entrepreneur.

Entrepreneur.

I roll the word around in my head, scribble it on paper, and practice my elevator speech.

Person in elevator: “Good morning.  Where do you work?”  Me:  “I work at home.  I am an Entrepreneur.”  Person in elevator:  “Doing what?”  Me:  “Uhhh….”

Oh yeah.  Doing what?

Here’s the part where I get stuck.  And it is a pretty important component about becoming an Entrepreneur.

Buying a franchise is out of the question.  I don’t have that kind of money to invest in brick and mortar.  Why, oh why can’t I come up with a great idea which isn’t already over-done.

So I read some books, wished and dreamed, and read a few more books.  I’ve roamed the web pages trying to find something, anything which was a legit business, no fly by night, flash in the pants type stuff.  Accomplishing what I really wanted wasn’t happening at all.

I signed up to become an independent distributor of a product which involves home parties.  My up line has become rightfully frustrated with me.  I haven’t booked one home party.  Nada.  None.  Zippo.  Why hadn’t I booked any home parties?  I refuse to bug my relatives, friends and neighbors to sponsor a party for me.

With no warm market to get me started, I turned to the Internet.  What product can be sold without spending every evening at a home party?

In doing my research, I stumped upon a website of a person who promised endless leads.  Not convinced, I listened to her story.  And her story struck a chord.  Did I buy?  Of course not!  Everything for sale on the Internet is just a load of hogwash.

A few nights later, I ran across the same website again.  I listened more of her story this time, but I wasn’t going to be duped into anything.  How stupid to just throw away hard-earned money on false promises.

But, wait a minute.  She is offering more information in the form of an E-book and it’s free.  Oh. My. God.  I have to give my email address in exchange for the booklet!  How bad do I want it?  Something for nothing…hmmm…what do I really have to lose.  If I don’t like what I get, I can always unsubscribe.

So I gave out my alter-ego email address for Nikki Smith. Most of the mail for Nikki is pretty worthless so it gets deleted about once a week.   But the email from Ann Sieg I kept. And I carefully read her E-book.  It made me THINK where I have been and where I wanted to go.

Like I expected, the emails from Ann Sieg kept arriving.  Instead of hitting delete, my curiosity got me and…I read them. (Gasp!)

One of the emails invited all the recipients to attend a free webinar.  I signed up.  This time I gave my real-life email, the sacred one given to my kid’s teachers and my mother.  This person had (against my better judgment) gained my trust.

So I attended that webinar, and then another.

Lord knows, I am not growing younger. My husband’s job wasn’t getting any more stable.  There are still college loans to be paid, and more children to put though college.  Retirement for my husband is just around the corner and just-what-in-the-hell am I going to do for the rest of my life?  My dream of earning money using the Internet wasn’t being fulfilled because, in all honesty, I didn’t have the tools, the knowledge or support I needed to succeed.

So I joined.

And I have not been disappointed.  I can pinky-swear what I have learned has equaled, and SURPASSED the amount of money I spent to join.  And what I am going to do from here on is share some of the lessons I have learned and introduce you to the new people I have met.

My elevator conversation has now been re-written.  How about this one?

Person on elevator:  “Good morning.  What do you do for a living?”  Me:  “I am an Internet Entrepreneur.  I help people reach their dream of earning money online.”

How about you?  Are you stuck, frustrated and ready to change your life? If so, join me.  Read along.  Let’s get excited about the possibilities of becoming ALL which is possible. Photobucket
